Hello all, Dan here..Welcome to easterndrifts – reflecting the ‘drift’ of London humans moving further east, the drift of the Thames, and the idea of the ‘drift’ in wandering-about terms.

These pages celebrate the the hidden gems of my corner of London – roughly from Docklands onwards east, through Newham, Barking and beyond, along the old Thames marshes.. They avoid the East London already written about a million times – you won’t find much Shoreditch or Hackney stuff here, but you might get the occasional bit of Walthamstow!..

As London moves eastwards, this site shines a light on our less celebrated corner of East London through walking explorations and posts on my wanderings, happenings and history. It’s a place of contrasts, and I love it of course! I love exploring the streets and stories of the region, love drifting into imagineering days gone by (SO MUCH HISTORY!!).. Anyway, have a read, follow the blog and enjoy.
